Sounds like it’s going to be based on the recent Abnett/Lanning Guardians of the Galaxy, which would be ridiculously awesome. Because really, how can you not love a team that has Rocket Raccoon?

One of Latino Review’s most credible tipsters had scored a significant piece of information, all of which will be unveiled at Comic Con later this year. Marvel now plans to release two superhero films each year. 2013 will bring ‘Thor 2’ and ‘Iron Man 2’ and 2014 will see ‘Captain America 2’ and Marvel’s newest big-screen franchise, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’.

What is known about ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’:

•  It will be announced as Marvel’s second film of 2014 at Comic Con
• Thanos will be a part of that film.
• It will set the stage for ‘Avengers 2’ in 2015.
• (Rumor) The script is very good.
• Expect Guardian members Nova, Rocket Raccoon and possibly Quasar. 

While most of this isn’t a shocker, it will be very interesting to see Marvel’s cosmic characters on the big-screen since they heavy hitters compared to the anyone on the Avengers rosters, even Thor or Hulk. It’s also surprising that Marvel is actually holding back on ‘Avenger 2’ until 2015 considering how much money that film has made them and isn’t rushing that film for an earlier year and date. Building up the continuity of their film universe is the smartest thing they can do with their movie properties and one of the key reasons people really enjoyed ‘Avengers’ so much.
